The new VERSA-Green Plantable Wall System from
VERSA-LOK is truly the greenest retaining wall available.
It combines the durability and strength of a VERSA-LOK
segmental retaining wall with the lush beauty of a hanging
garden. The result is a functional wall that becomes a living
part of your landscape. 
Each VERSA-Green concrete unit weighs 70 lbs. and
covers nearly a full square foot of wall face. Inside each unit
is a 6"-deep plantable core for planting and a groove across
the top to accommodate irrigation tubing. The cavity in
each unit is filled with planting medium and the suitable
plants of your choice; a drip irrigation nozzle can be placed
in each unit to keep the plants watered.

HOW THE VERSA-GREEN SYSTEM WORKS
VERSA-Green is a modified version of VERSA-LOK’s
popular Square Foot segmental retaining wall system.
The base course is installed in the same way as a Square
Foot wall:
- Excavate a trench 24 inches wide and deep enough to accommodate 6 inches of crushed rock base material and 1/10 of the wall’s exposed height.
- Compact and place a thin layer of sand on top.
- Space VERSA-Green units typically 8 inches apart
and level front to back, side to side.
Succeeding courses of VERSA-Green are set back behind the lip on the wall face and installed with a space between
each unit. After each course is completed, irrigation
tubing can be run the length of the course and a drip-nozzle
installed above each unit. Each succeeding course is
installed so that each unit bridges the gap between the units
below. The plantable cores are filled with soil after every
other course is laid. Holes in the bottom of the cores allow
for drainage.
Once the wall is completed, plants are placed in each unit,
the top of the wall is landscaped and your living VERSA-Green
wall is ready to grow!
